Re-Launching of my blogspot....all for God's glory!

I am re-launching this blogspot for God's glory.  I will continue to share thoughts and meditations, reflections and insights of how I view the world. In my estimation, we must make our world more Christian. We must uphold our Catholic values in a world that has gone array.
Let us not be afraid and loose hope, God is faithful through his  Son Jesus. Our God is a good God and he loves us.

"Our civilization is suffering from a degeneration of the mind. We pride ourselves on being intellectually advanced, and yet if real culture is a knowledge of the truth, then we are less advanced than we were several centuries ago. There is such a thing as ever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the Truth. Thousands of our educated minds are dedicated to the materialist philosophy which denies that man can rise above a knowledge of earthly things. Sacred Scripture informs us that when the earth passes away there will be no more time, and yet prophets of our day teach us that the only abiding reality is space and time. Realities which cannot be touched are denied. There is said to be no spiritual soul because a scalpel never revealed it; no mysteries in life because never handled in a laboratory; no world beyond because never seen through a telescope. And faith, if there be any, means only a hypothesis or a sum of probabilities. Such are the tenets of a materialism, the Dead Sea fruit of a brain softening and atrophied through the misuse of its higher power.”
~Fulton J. Sheen, The Life of All Living, 1929.

Friends,
Friends,

From one of my many favorite Catholic authors!

“The swaddling clothes of an infant hid the Son of God in Bethlehem, and the appearance of bread and wine hides the Reality of Christ dying again on Calvary, in the Mass. This concealment of Himself that God effects with us is operative in His use of the Now to hide His will beneath the aspect of very simple, everyday things. We live our lives in dependence on such casual, common benefits as air and water; so Our Lord is pleased to receive from us in return the thousands of unimportant actions and the trifling details that make up our lives – provided that we see, even in our sorrows, ‘the shade of his hand outstretched caressingly.’ Here is the whole secret of sanctity; the method is available to everyone and deserves particular notice from those who ask: ‘What can I do?’ For many good souls are hungry to do great things for God. They complain that they have no opportunities for heroic virtue, no chance at the apostolate. They would be martyrs; but when a meal is late, or a bus is crowded, when the theater is filled, or the dance postponed, or the bacon overdone, they are upset for a whole day. They miss their opportunities for loving God in the little things He asks of them.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Lift Up Your Heart)

Friends,
Thank you for all the 275 + that attended my lecture on the Tilma of Guadalupe. May the ever Blessed Mother of Guadalupe draw us closer to her Son Jesus Our Lord! Let us celebrate with St. Juan Diego what God continues to do for his people. The Apparitions of the Blessed Mother of Guadalupe are the gospel in minituare! God is with us!

San Juan Diego, pray for us!

Blessings,
Fr. Carlos

Friends, you are all invited to tonite's lecture on the Tilma of Guadalupe. It is a marvel of a story of our Hispanic heritage as Catholics. Come find out why the Blessed Mother appeared on Tepeyac Hill, 10 years after the Spaniards conquered Mexico City. What is the theological message of the Apparitions. What is the significance of the stars on her mantle and the moon at her feet. What is the significance of the Nahuatl flowers on her dress. Let us rejoice this ADVENT and celebrate the Blessed Mother of Our Lady of Guadalupe in our lives. Lecture is tonite at 7:00 pm at the Parish Hall of St. Pius X, Weslaco, Tx.

Welcome to 956 Catholic Ministry blogspot. I am happy to start this ministry as I feel it is much needed in our beloved Rio Grande Valley which is home to more than 850 thousand Catholics. I will be sharing my reflections, meditations, editorials on Catholic topics. I will also share what I am reading and projects that I am working on to enhance my own spirituality as a Catholic priest. We will grow together. Thank you for your prayers and support!
